Gryningsland is a larp about the bustling life of a market; of song, dance, stories and party, but also about how we create new societies when the old ones collapse. Do we repeat the same old patterns, or do we dare to create something new? Or do we just regress into barbarism?
It’s now been twenty years since the catastrophe that wiped out the majority of the population and thrust the rest into a desperate struggle against starvation, sickness and death. The situation has stabilized over the years, and new societies grow from the ruins of what was once Sweden. Those old enough to have experienced The Old Times brood and reminisce, while those born into this new reality just look to the future.
Gryningsland is a larp about a market where people from different societies and settlements meet to trade in both goods and labour, exchange news and experiences, eat and drink, sing, play and enjoy the company of unfamiliar faces. The market is also a welcome change from the everyday toil, where starvation and death is always lurking just around the corner. A place not only for business, but also where friendships and love might arise. Most of you will play visitors from various farms and settlements, some with radically different views on life, the future and how to organize the new societies.
Gryningsland is produced by Sebastian Utbult, Emma Ström, Anna Sortti and Erik Stormark. With Gryningsland we want to create a larp to explore different ways of structuring a society, human relationships and conflicts in a new Sweden, with both pitch black traumas and joyous revelry as a backdrop.

About the universe
Gryningsland takes place in the Solnedgång ("Sunset") universe, wherein several larger and smaller larps have been run over the years. The fiction is not a "campaign", but rather a series of snapshots exploring different themes along the timeline from the Catastrophe onward. We have previously been involved - as players or organizers - in for instance Ingenmansland, Skymningsland, Landsväg, Hinterland, and Vinterland. As a player, you don't need to have any experience of previous larps to get the full Gryningsland experience.
